Now that Canada has become the second country to legalise marijuana completely following it's prime minister Justin Trudeau's vow to legalise marijuana across Canada by July, other countries like the United Kingdom and the United States America are also having heated debates on the legalisation of marijuana, explore the opinions about cannabis with Yami Malhotra.

Should other countries consider legalising marijuana as well?
"It may seem odd, but yes. Other countries should also legalise marijuana not only for medical purposes but for recreational purposes as well." :- Yami Malhotra, Blogger at The Youths Lens
"When you expose a growing brain to cannabis, you actually change the way it grows and matures" :- Karine Igartua, president of the Quebec psychiatry group
Medical purposes?
Till date, cannabis has worked on children who are around 2 or 3 years old to cure cancer. The mother of Landon Riddle, Sierra stated that her son’s chest was filled with leukaemia tumours and the doctors had said that there were only 8-10% chances of Landon’s survival. But, Landon’s grandmother sent him into “cannabis oil treatment” which cured him.
Cannabis also partially cured 14 year old boy- Deryn’s one in a billion form of cancer (Langerhans cell sarcoma). His mother claimed that cannabis didn’t exactly cure his cancer but it was his bone marrow which kicked in, in response to the cannabis over a 6 week period. But it seemingly saved his life as it had a profound effect on his bone marrow.
Therefore, with technological advancements, the legalisation of cannabis is a step in the right way to hopefully cure cancer sometime in the future.
Recreational purposes? Are you high?
It’s true that smoking weed or consumption of cannabis is much healthier than smoking cigarettes or consuming alcohol, so yeah why not.
Marijuana becomes harmful if it is mixed with other drugs such as LSD, cocaine, heroin etc. According to multiple researches, caffeine is said to be more addictive than marijuana.
Up till now, there have been ZERO deaths due to smoking weed only (it does not count if a person has been consuming other drugs or alcohol or smoking tobacco). Although there have been deaths due to driving under the influence of marijuana or people crossing the road when high.
However, synthetic cannabinoids are harmful. They are basically safe alternatives to genuine marijuana (e.g:- Kush, K2, spices). According to a survey conducted in the United States, there has been 20 deaths due to the consumption of synthetic cannabis. But this will not be a problem if governments legalise marijuana and open up government-regulated weed selling shops which would ensure good quality of weed and would reduce the dependency of people on drug dealers who may tamper with the quality of marijuana.
It still remains a much healthier and safer option than alcohol and tobacco, and is not addictive at the end of the day.
If cannabis is legalised then it would also generate employment and boost the economies of many countries as people would start working in weed manufacturing industries and could plant and sell it.
Therefore, governments should work on legalising marijuana because it is beneficial for their economies, it can change the path of medicine and is healthier than the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.
