The Truth of This World

Conveying our thoughts about the current world doesn't always have to be blunt. Open your eyes as our poet Venya Khokher takes you through the reality of the world, a seething reality which doesn't necessarily have to be the future.

The air thick with pollution,

My eyes watering through it all,

The world around me filled with destitution,

It makes me feel so small.

Everywhere I look I see war, corruption and abuse,

Looking at the news makes me want to hurl,

I don’t know who to accuse,

Maybe it’s us, but it all takes me for a whirl.

Something is holding us back, stopping us from peace

I hope to reach a state of equilibrium,

And I hope all this negativity would just cease.

But all that we live in is delirium.

Millions of dead, millions of starving, millions living in fear,

So please help us fix this world we hold so dear.
