I am free yet I am not,
They can see yet they cannot,
A sense of liberation was in me,
not so long ago,
Times of tribulation had ended,
not so long ago.
I thought we had been accepted,
but those eyes state otherwise.
Thanks to you I can hear,
my heart's shrill cries.
The words of the court,
fell deaf to their ears.
A few moments of ignorance,
brought us so many tears.
A legal struggle turned social,
there is a mindset to change,
a belief so irrational,
so intolerant and strange.
I'm dying as people judge me,
for my choices, oh so "unusual"
Demeaning the love that I had shared,
which was oh, so mutual
And now that I have surrendered
and I look down from heaven,
I hope they remember the numbers,
Three - Seven - Seven.
