In today's technologically advanced world, production of goods that we use in our everyday lives has become more efficient. We buy mass produced products everyday in order to satisfy our demands. One can order a mass produced version of almost anything in a matter of seconds. Thus, these mass produced goods are widely available to customers for consumption. Mass produced goods however, should be used in moderation and must not be over utilized.
Ease of obtaining goods
One perspective highlights that mass production has led to ease in obtaining of goods. Large scale production leads to the production of a large number of goods at once, and making them easily available to all. It highlights the fact that people do not need to spend large amounts of time making things for themselves. This problem has been solved, thus simplifying lives of the people and giving them time to do other activities. For Example Instead of knitting sweaters at home, families can now buy sweaters at low prices from shops.
Everlasting demand for Indian handmade goods
Other people feel that handcrafts remain as important as they were in previous times. Machines cannot replicate intricate designs and beautiful patterns. In fact, people still want to purchase such complex and beautiful designs even if they are a little more expensive. Nowadays, supermarkets are only full of mass produced industrial goods. Even though the demand for handcrafts has reduced slightly, how can one rightfully compare a handmade painting with a printed one? Statistics show that there is enough demand for handmade designs.
I believe that handcrafts should not be forgotten, and people should realize that handmade materials are of better quality than industrial ones.
In conclusion, I feel that handmade goods reflect the heritage of a country and still have an adequate market in today's society. The value of handcrafted goods is still worth considering as machine made goods become increasingly prevalent. Due to mass production, we are not aware of how goods we use everyday are produced. Striking a balance between the use of industrial and hand made goods would lead to the best result.
Thus, we must learn to accept mass produced goods and also preserve and protect handcrafted goods.
