What if partition never happened?

India has been doing comparatively well compared to other countries though it has immense diversity prevailing in it. So many countries have been destroyed due to discrimination prevailing among the ethnic groups but the good governance of India has shown it's excellence in every field imaginable. Though we continuously criticize the government, we should know that they deserve appreciation as they have been successful in keeping the terrorists at bay, kept the naxals in check, tried to retaliate the problems in the northeast and most importantly, kept one step ahead of Pakistan. It is difficult to imagine an "akhand bharat" which would consist of Pakistan, the country with which India rivals everytime. But then the major question arises, could Pakistan had been a better majority segment inside India if partition never happened?

We must not forget that India was mainly divided into Bangladesh and Pakistan. Partition was introduced by Lord Mountbatten to finally free India as the whole country was becoming difficult to manage. Such a vast population meant more attention to be paid and dealing with protests was becoming tedious. Every minority wanted separate electorate and wanted states to be divided on the basis of ethnic majority. This would only lead to the downfall of India and as our history books tell us, partition was inevitable. So considering that with a weak centre somehow we managed to unite all ethnic group to one country, we would be looking at a humongous population of 1728904000 people. It is approximately 23% of the world's population and it would be more than that of North and South America, Europe and Caribbean combined. With a large population, the average income per person would be a mere $7000 which is far below the world's average of $17300. We would also see a bigger parliament as every minority has to be represented adequately. But it is still unsure that democracy would even survive in such a variety of not. It is evident from history that the Muslims could not corporate with Hindus as they feared that after India's independence, they would be reduced to a minority. There would be a battle for the limited parliament seats and ethnic groups will surely take it to another level with daily protests, demonstrations and would widen the gulf between the people. One positive impact will be that there will be more agricultural land available with continuous water supply without any international border problems. Bangladesh too would contribute a lot to literature and agriculture which would boost the country's economy. One thing which would also be a game changer that the army would be placed among the top five nations. But all of those would go in vain as India would not be able to maintain such a huge army. Though it will be the largest Muslim populated country, it will still remain a minority which would lead to inadequate representation. India will also be one of the poorest country with 600 million hungry people. India would also be in the top ten dangerous countries in the world as it would see bigger protests than it has ever witnessed in the course of its history.

With these points being said, one could say that just like how the Sikhs tried to make a separate nation Khalistan, it is possible that same conditions would prevail for Pakistan and the plan would also be executed due to lack of strong center. Khalistan failed because of strict actions taken by our government to suppress the movement. Thus partition of Pakistan had to be done as Britishers had sowed the seeds of enemity between Muslims and Hindus during the rule of the East India Company. We would see India engulfed in chaos as partition taking its course and serious debates in parliament with frequent tries of assassinating important leaders. If they do not allow partition, India would sink into a chaotic civil war which Indians could not even afford. Basically, India would be a failed nation and the conditions would be similar to those of South Sudan.
