Humans have always been obsessed with youth.
Kim Kardashian, the reality television celebrity, influencer and businesswomen, has taken extreme measures and resorted to ‘vampire facials’. No this is not some type of halloween makeup but an average $1500 facial to preserve your youth or so they say.
Vampire facials essentially use “your own blood to help promote the healthy activity of your own skin cells,” says Joshua Zeichner, the director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. The plastic surgery revolution was whole-heartidly embraced by movie stars and other media influencers as it gave them hope and a scientific solution to prevent ageing. The tragic part is that after having spent billions of dollars to make themselves look young, they look more like robots and less human.
Individuals resort to the most extreme options such as cosmetic surgery, dawning painful wigs, anti-ageing creams and unhealthy diets that lead to destruction of both mental and physical health. The beauty industry mints money by psychologically blackmailing men and women and promising them eternal youth. Today the beauty industry is worth $532 billion and counting, according to a report from retail analytics firm Edited.
The only truth is acceptance. We are born and we will die. We are young and we will grow old. It is the circle of life. It is inevitable. Being in denial and fighting nature will only lead to unhappiness and discontentment. There is no fountain of youth and no miracle can save you from growing old! From the time of Cleopatra to Kylie Jenner, the mystery of staying forever young is still to be solved!
